Josh Hiban is the founder of DMV Chess. He started DMV Chess to provide more chess tournaments for the DMV area and expanded into offering online tournaments as well. He has an adorable dog named Reggie!
Justin Burgess is the Director of Online Programs for DMV Chess. He is a National Master. In 2012 he was co-champion of the Virginia State Chess Championship.
Nikolas Theiss joined DMV Chess in 2018 as an instructor and tournament director. He also developed the DMV Chess website and helped create other software used by DMV Chess. He wants to believe Reggie secretly loves him more than Josh.
Dennis Norman is an instructor for DMV Chess’s online courses. Dennis’s USCF rating is 2200.
Stephen Jablon is the chief organizer of the DMV Chess League and an occasional chess teacher for DMV Chess.
Tapiwa Gwaze is the instructor for DMV Chess’s Saturday Climb the Rating Ladder course. His USCF rating is 1995 and he has years of experience teaching chess professionally. He’s also a retired professional poker player!
Bryan Millian teaches private lessons for DMV Chess. He is also in charge of mailing out trophies to our online tournament winners. His USCF rating is 1868.
Reggie is the official mascot of DMV Chess.
