Our online courses give students the chance to play and learn from their games!

Climb the Rating Ladder Online Courses Overview

  • DMV Chess offers seven online course options.

  • Six of these courses are made for kids, while one course (Wednesdays) is for adults.

  • Courses involve weekly USCF-online-rated games followed by postgame analysis together as a class. If additional time remains after all games are analyzed, the coach will engage the students in another lesson or activity (i.e. tactics training, GM game analysis, etc.).

  • Current instructors are National Master Justin Burgess (Mondays), National Master Dennis Norman (Tuesdays), National Master Sam Martin (Wednesdays), International Master Joshua Posthuma (Thursdays & Fridays, advanced groups), USCF Expert & Chess Author Kevin Stokker (Fridays, 400-1000), and USCF Expert Epiphany Peters (Sundays).

  • Explore our offerings below to find the best fit for you/your child. Courses are labeled based on rating range and day of the week.
