OVERVIEW

This group meets online on Fridays for two hours, starting at 7pm ET (6pm CT, 5pm MT, 4pm PT). This group is designed for students rated 1100 to 1600 USCF.

NOTE: This course is not open to adults.

Students play one USCF-online-regular-rated game per week, after which International Master Joshua Posthuma will help students analyze their games together as a group. When time permits, IM Joshua will also give the class puzzles and lectures on tactics and strategy.

  • Time control: game in 25 minutes with a 5-second increment

  • Games submitted to the USCF for rating at the end of every month

  • Open to serious students of the game from any geographical location

  • Active USCF membership required

  • Class participation strongly encouraged

ABOUT International master joshua posthuma

Coach Joshua is an International Master. His USCF rating as of April 2023 is 2526, and his FIDE rating is 2457. He won back-to-back Michigan State Chess Championships in 2018 and 2019. Joshua is also a full-time professional chess instructor, and has guided numerous students to the USCF Top 100 list for their age groups. Joshua has dedicated his life to the game of chess, and has been an avid tournament player since the age of five.

BILLING

The cost of enrollment is $200/month. Fees are assessed regardless of attendance. After registering online, you will be set up for automatic monthly payments. These payments can be cancelled prior to the start of the upcoming month.

Note: By default, students who register online will be enrolled at the beginning of the upcoming month. If you purchase a course entry in the middle of a month, we will send you an email from courses@dmvchess.com asking if you would like to have your child start right away or wait until next month. Students who wish to join a class mid-month would be offered the opportunity to pay a prorated invoice for the first month.
